She exercises her artistic potential gracefully in Khayal singing. Her talent in rendering Thumri Dadra Bhajans and Ghazals is evident in her various performances. Gifted with a rich and mellifluous voice, she devotedly upholds and adheres to the traditions and norms of the Patiala Gharana Gayaki. While remaining within the traditional parameters of Khayal Gayaki, she has been able to bring beauty and compact variety in her Peshkash – Her live and recorded performances are being broadcast regularly by AIR New Delhi since 1978.
Primila has participated in several music festivals and concerts. Her many public performances in a dozen Indian cities as also a Dubai, Belgium, Germany, London, Malaysia have earned her well deserved rave reviews. Her unique style of rendering ghazals vies for attention, since it is infused with great depth of emotions and beauty. Her entry into ghazal singing began with the inaugural programme at Aiwane – Ghalib – New Delhi where she performed as solo vocalist. She has the honour of rendering a complete cassette of Gaiz (at the poet’s omstamce) in a collection of classical ghazals released by HMV. She has also chanted the Hindi version of complete 700 shlokas, of Bhagvad-Gita in verse.
Presently, she is on a Bhajan project of 3 volumes and 3 solo albums of ghazals by many poets.
She has started a Sanstha “Triveni Sangeet Sabha” devoted only for shastriya sangeet with an aim to promote artists of this region and introduce this culture in Punjab. She has been decorated with many awards for her remarkable contribution to promote Indian Classical Art and Culture.

Kathak Dance Diploma classes started with Prof Srivastava’s appointment at Faculty of Performing Arts, BHU, Varanasi, in the year 1982. Between, 1982 to 2006, as the only teacher for Kathak Dance classes, Prof Srivastava also discharged all administrative responsibilities. As Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts, the Faculty witnessed an overall growth and development. The growth from Diploma in Dance to BPA, MPA and PhD programmes along with an independent Department of Dance at the Faculty of Performing Arts, BHU Varanasi, happened during Prof Srivastava’s stint as Dean, thereby making the Dance education more professional and rewarding for the students. Achievement as Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts had been, Faculty’s recognition within BHU and externally to the world as a Faculty which imparted professional excellence in performing arts and exposure to experts and professionals of global recognition. Many of Prof Srivastava’s students have received prizes in Youth festivals and are also getting the National Scholarship given by the Ministry of HRD. Few of them today have Dance Studios and Schools abroad.

Besides, he held the positions of Director, IAS Coaching Centre and Director, University College of Business Studies in Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Prof Verma is known as institutional builder. He established Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies (UGC-Centre of Excellence) in 2002 and UGC-Academic Staff College in 1989 (considered as one of the progressive ASCs in the country). During his tenure as Director, Academic Staff College and thereafter, he trained and interacted with more than 19000 teachers of colleges and universities throughout the country. He is known for a number of innovations brought out in the process of human resource development and management of higher education in the country. Prof. Verma is ever enthusiastic for interaction with young generation who enjoy his inspiring words and heart touching humility. He joined the founder Vice Chancellor in setting up of Central University of Himachal Pradesh in 2010 and made substantial contribution. He received a number of awards and recognitions such as Life Time Award, Management Excellence Award, Man of the Year Award, Ford Foundation Award, etc. for his outstanding contribution in academics.
Dr. Verma is on the expert panels of National Commission on Academic Accreditation and Assessment, Saudi Arabia; National Assessment & Accreditation Council, Bangalore and Quality Assurance and Accreditation Division, University Grants Commission, Nepal. He is a member of number of national level committees constituted by UGC, AICTE and NAAC.
